Who we are
Teach a Tot Preschool takes pride in providing care and learning experiences within a setting that offers the best characteristics of a safe and happy home, combined with exceptional professional standards. We see every child and their family as unique, valuing the knowledge, culture and experience they bring to the centre. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the traditional custodians of the land, and endeavour to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our learning environment every day.
We believe children:
–Are lifelong learners, equally capable of achieving outcomes at their own pace.
–Thrive when cared for in an environment that meets their need for nutrition, rest, friendship, safety, physical activity, and a sense of belonging.
–Deserve to feel secure in being who they are; to have their individuality supported and encouraged.
–Are entitled to have the opportunity to construct their own learning through play, whilst building dispositions for learning, including creativity, resilience, curiosity and confidence.
We believe families:
–Are a child’s first teacher and know the needs of their child best. Therefore, strong relationships between families and educators are vital in achieving best outcomes for children.
–Should be encouraged to contribute their knowledge, expertise, and opinions towards the learning opportunities and care provided to their children.
–Should feel safe, respected and welcome whilst at the centre and when communicating with educators.
We believe management and educators:
–Should treat all children as equals and develop trusting relationships with every child and parent.
–Need to engage in continuous reflection and frequent training to improve their knowledge and skills in caring for children and delivering high-quality learning experiences.
–Must be committed to continuous improvement according to the National Quality Framework and Quality Standards.
–Need to be capable of effectively communicating with children, families, staff and members of the community to support best outcomes for children.
–Should listen to children’s voices and encourage their sense of agency, providing them with opportunities to be active participants in making decisions about care routines, play experiences, and curriculum programming.
–Must be guided by the Early Years Learning Framework Version 2.0 when making curriculum decisions, ensuring each child has the opportunity and support to achieve every outcome through a balance of spontaneous and planned experiences.
–Should be passionate about the importance of Early Childhood Education and the important role they play in young lives.
